Fort Myers woman dies in Lee crash

A Fort Myers woman died early Sunday after her car struck a utility pole and overturned in North Fort Myers.

Crystal Lee Thomas, 27, was traveling westbound on Evergreen Road approaching the intersection of Piney Road after midnight when she lost control of her car and crossed into the eastbound lane of Evergreen Road, a Florida Highway Patrol report said.

According to the report, Thomas attempted a corrective action by steering to the right as the car began to rotate clockwise and traveled back across the roadway, entering the north shoulder. The car then struck a utility pole and overturned, ejecting Thomas.

Thomas was not wearing a seat belt. The report states that she was the only occupant in the vehicle.
