Marco Adult Softball league standings tighten

Marco Island Adult Softball has moved past the half-way point of the season and we see the standings tightening up.

League leaders Joey’s Pizza suffered only their second loss of the season at the hands of last year’s regular season champs, Island Pizza, 20-2.

Island Pizza was led by Wes Alberry four hits, including a home run and three doubles. Butch Smith and Jason Berning also had home runs. Joey’s was led by Mike Golom’s three-run homer and Tony Oliverio’s three hits.

Islander Pool with its win over Nacho Mama’s, 12-8, moved to half-game behind Joey’s in second place. Islander pool was led by Rich Dahn’s three hits, including a home run and Joey Irigoyen’s home run and double, with Cory Garipy adding three hits. Marco Magdalener led Nacho’s with two hits, including a home run and Kurt Busch and Greg Curry also had two hits each.

In the other surprise of the night, Kretch’s knocked off Cocomo’s, 20-15. Kretch’s got the victory behind five players with at least three hits each, Chris Bowden had four hits and John Wright had two home runs. With the game tied, a six-run last inning gave Kretch’s the win. Cocomo’s was led by Brian Day with five hits, including a home run, Curt Wittoff, four hits and Niels Stone added three hits, including two home runs.

In Kretch’s second game of the night they defeated R.K. Reiman, 18-6. Reiman was led by Mike Radlovacki, Max Tyler and Connor Riddle with two hits apiece.

Porky’s got its win over the Marco Island Brewery, 15-3. Kevin Swisher and Anthony Russo had three hits each for Porky’s, while The Brewery was led by Paul Thomassen’s three hits, including a home run.

Adult Softball is played every Thursday night at Winterberry and Tommie Barfield fields, with games starting at 6 p.m.

League Standings:

Joey’s, 8-2, Island Pool, 7-1-1, Cocomo’s, 6-2-1, Island Pizza and Kretch’s, 6-3, Porky’s, 5-4, Nacho Mama’s, 2-7, R.K. Reiman, 1-8, Marco Island Brewery, 0-9.
