'It’s called salsa because it’s hot'

Friday, July 18, 2008
It’s a music so alive that it pulls at your feet and hips, driving you to the dance floor. But if you didn’t grow up with salsa, its complex rhythms can be intimidating. Review: Streep a super trouper in the rousing ‘Mamma Mia!’

Your Music Review: Akon has a nice accent

Sunday, June 22, 2008
Who is your favorite artist? Akon. I like his accent and I just think that he’s cute. I like the sound he makes; it’s different from the others. And he’s actually from Africa, so it’s really cool to actually have someone like that. Full story »

Review: Adam Sandler’s new groan-fest strictly a predictable affair

Thursday, June 12, 2008
Who would ever have thought an Adam Sandler movie could have anything in common with “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”? It’s strange but true, as seen in “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan.” Full story »

Your DVD Review: Too many famous people in the world

Who is your favorite actor or actress? I don’t really have a favorite; I just remember the movies I like. I don’t know the names of many actors. There’s too many famous people in the world. Full story »

Review: A strong cast in Mamet’s take on the samurai code

Wednesday, May 14, 2008
The first thing you notice about writer-director David Mamet’s “Redbelt” is that it doesn’t rely on his trademark verbal choreography. Or maybe it does, but this time silence is as crucial as dialogue. Full story »

Review: Madonna flirtatious and uncomplicated in new album

Sunday, May 11, 2008
This one’s for you, America. No Abba samples, no edgy French producers, no politics. Madonna makes her least adventurous, yet nonetheless shrewd, move with her new “Hard Candy.” She enrolls producers The Neptunes and Timbaland, the guys behind seemingly every American pop hit in the past several years, plus frequent guest vocals by Justin Timberlake, arguably the most viable modern pop star.
