A striking building on the island is the Jewish Center, located on Winterberry Drive. In late 1982 a group of people met to discuss the feasibility of having Hebrew services on Marco, and it was decided to meet periodically in social gatherings. Full story »

Consultants, hired to evaluate the Dealt Corp.-owned Marco Island Utilities, differ greatly on the value. Deltona says it is worth $10.5 million for the island water and sewage treatment facilities, while the consultants say it is worth $7.5 million. Commissioner John Pistor also said that he expects there will be another $800,000 added to bring the system up to state and county standards. More studies are expected. Full story »

Caroline Kipp came to Marco Island in 1924 at the age of 19. She married Dewey Robinson and they raised five children. She conducted Sunday school in her home, but was determined to have a real church for the Islanders. The site she chose was on Bald Eagle Drive, near the present Riverside Club. Full story »
