While first-place Cocomo’s was idle, Joey’s Pizza and Da Vinci’s won City Men’s Softball League games to stay close.

The City Men’s Softball League had some run-scoring action in their games.

The objective this summer for Jess Millar, Lely softball coach, is to have her team compete against quality teams to improve its own abilities. Millar got what she wanted last weekend in the Ringor College Exposure Tournament in Sarasota.

Cocomo’s Grill, regular season champs in 2009, got some satisfaction as it downed this year’s champs, Sand Bar/Integrity Insurance, in the league’s tournament championship.

The Lely softball team closed its season and looked ahead at its awards party on Tuesday.

Joey’s Pizza upset Cocomo’s Grill, but it caused no change in the standings in the City Men’s Softball League.

Nacho Mama’s earned its Island Division championship, knocking off contender Sand Bar twice. Then Bertram Orthopedics gave a lending hand by upsetting Sunset Grille to give Nacho’s the championship.

Sand Bar/Integrity, kept its integrity with a 20-19 win over Joey’s Pizza in the City Men’s Softball League.

Though they easily won the Marco Division, Joey’s Pizza’s unbeaten streak ended at 19 when Islander Restaurant gave them a 19-3 whooping.

Sunset Grille won three games in a week, with two of them key to moving them into a first-place tie with Sand Bar and Nacho Mama’s in the Island Division.
