With the Marco Island Charter Middle School boys team playing at home, the odds heavily favored them to defeat Community School of Naples in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference semifinal game on Thursday. Apparently no one told Community School.

The Marco Island Charter Middle School girls soccer team needed to be focused to have a chance of winning its opening Collier County Public Schools game against Manatee Middle School on Saturday. They were, shutting out Manatee, 2-0.

Fouls result in free throws. A free throw is when a player gets to stand on a line 12 feet from the basket and take the shot without being guarded. Sounds simple, but often it isn’t.
