The Marco Island Charter Middle School girls soccer team needed to be focused to have a chance of winning its opening Collier County Public Schools game against Manatee Middle School on Saturday. They were, shutting out Manatee, 2-0.

Fouls result in free throws. A free throw is when a player gets to stand on a line 12 feet from the basket and take the shot without being guarded. Sounds simple, but often it isn’t.

The Collier County Athletic Conference (CCAC) held North and South Division meets on Saturday. This Saturday the overall conference championships will be at Manatee Middle School, beginning at 8:15a.m., with the boys championship, followed by the girls at 8:45a.m.

When arriving at the football field at Winterberry Park fans immediately felt the strong football atmosphere. Not that of a middle school game, but of a high school game, with a lot on the line.

The Marco Island Optimist football teams played their home games on Saturday. The teams battled against Baptist of Naples Beacons, but came up short in both games.
