As a young person, what national or international issues concern you?
Margarita Rivera, 20
"The war in Iraq. There’s just so much violence and it seems it’s never going to end. I wish it would already. Also, there are a lot of adult Americans who just don’t know how to read or write, and I’d love to see people learn more. The economy definitely makes me nervous too. Everything is just going higher and higher, and it’s almost impossible to survive with all the job cuts and layoffs."
James Clark, 17
"Right now, it’s the genocide in Darfur. Also the presidential election (is an issue). I’m with Obama, even though I can’t vote legally yet. I work at the (Marco Island YMCA) as a lifeguard, and I think the gas prices are outrageous. "
Christian Tateo, 15
"I’m also concerned about the outcome of the election, and which way it’s going, and also Darfur and the war in Iraq and the way it’s going. I’d like everybody just to come back. I’d like to see gas prices drop. I’m about to get my license, and would like to see them go back down so I can drive more."
