"I started playing as a freshman living in Chicago. When we moved here, my dad read about The First Tee (of Naples/Collier), and I played some summer tournaments. It teaches you respect for people and respect for the game, the course and other players. It’s a good way to learn things. The game is relaxing and mental, and it’s fun teaching that to other kids. There’s a technical and mental side, but I think the most important thing is to get new players to calm down. "

"As a freshman here in Naples, I got involved with Kathy Padgett and Cindy Darland (program administrators) and this helped me to play in tournaments through The First Tee. It’s a great learning experience. The game requires perseverance, and the program gives you core values you can pass on to younger kids. You get all kinds of kids in the program, some of them bratty, but that definitely changes."

"I first got involved in Tulsa, OK, when I was 12 years old, six years ago. The First Tee program had started there, and my dad inspired me to join because I had natural sporting ability. Being involved most definitely helped me to be more patient, because I wasn’t a patient person. If we play with new girls on the team, and they’re slow, I don’t get impatient now, because you don’t want them to quit. I also enjoy teaching them (aspects of) the game."
