Mary Jane Corning, left, of Fort Myers, along with her granddaughter Emily Jane Mueller, center, and daughter Cathy Jane, right, of Minnesota, banded together, donning their black bow ties and carpenter’s aprons to form “The Merry Janes.” Taking inspiration from the movie “March of the Penguins,” the trio’s depiction of “Penguins in Paradise” won them second place in the Friends and Family amateur division of the competition. Mary Jane’s son John Corning won first place in the Florida State Competition, while her daughter-in-law Katie Corning competed at the Master level.
