Commissioners voted to buy part of Babcock Ranch, but need more time to review the details of an agreement for its development. The commissioners agreed to pay $40 million for about 5,600 acres of Babcock Ranch in the county, which is contingent upon the approval of a four-party agreement for the ranch development among Kitson's company, the state, and Lee and Charlotte counties.
