Clark Welch, a retired Army colonel and Bonita Springs resident, is part of a documentary in the “American Experience” series that is based on a battle that occurred on Oct. 17, 1967 in Vietnam. Welch, a lieutenant at the time, had been trailing the enemy and was ordered to lead an attack against the Vietnamese, though he was outnumbered. The documentary airs at 9 p.m. today on WGCU public television.
