Rabbi Fishel Zaklos, with his son, Mendel, 2-1/2, and wife Ettie holding Yitzi, 6 months, prepares to say a blessing for the Burning of the Chametz outside their Naples home Wednesday afternoon. The ceremonial burning of the pieces of bread, part of the Jewish preparations for Passover, follows the cleansing of the house of leavened foods the previous night. The ceremony is performed symbolically to rid the house of negativity and evil that inhibits growth to allow a new start. Passover, the major Jewish spring holiday, commemorates the exodus of the Jews from Egypt.
