Most dogs across the country, and their owners, shiver at the thought of spending the day soaking wet at the beach just a week before Christmas — but not Sam, who takes a minute to pose for The Banner before pouncing on his tennis ball for another romp in the calm, warm waters at Dog Beach. Anthony Mirando and his wife, Christina Stapleton, of New York, brought 7-year-old Nellie, a springer spaniel, to Dog Beach for the first time after arriving in town to visit Christina's father, a Bonitan. When asked what Mirando would be doing in New York right now, he said: "I'd be probably at a dog park there, but bundled up."
