Marco Braves Eric Lasek, from left, John Hinman, Joe Mariano and Zachary Stute, all 8, wait for their turn to bat during the Braves Little League game against Everglades City Reds at the Gulf Coast Little League field in East Naples in March. Each year we are asked to choose a favorite photo from the year, and each year I face the same questions: Which one do I choose, and what statement can I make with my choice? After three years as a Daily News photographer, a pattern has surfaced. Being raised in Naples, I've chosen photos that represent a part of myself. As Naples has changed and grown, so have I. This photo reminds me of the days when my grandfather, Dean McCormack, coached Little League with our former publisher, Corbin Wyant, and I played with people who are now known in the community as bankers, construction workers, police officers, even research scientists. The size of our community has changed, but, hopefully, our sense of community hasn't.
