Domestic Animal Services volunteer Barry Baker brushes some of the male cats waiting for adoption Tuesday afternoon at the center in Naples. Baker, known around the center as the “cat man,” volunteers two or three days a week when he’s not living part-time in New Jersey with his wife and five cats of their own. Baker said he turned to cats after having triple bypass heart surgery. “I don’t need a dog pulling me around. These are stress relievers,” he added. February is Senior Appreciation Month at Domestic Animal Services, which is offering a $10 senior discount on cat and dog adoptions, as well as holding a Senior Expo Event for pet adoptions today at the Golden Gate Community Center from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
