The audience is led through an educational pledge by Anthony Denson during the annual African-American Read-In, sponsored by the Collier County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, at River Park Recreation Center in Naples on Sunday afternoon. The event was a tribute to the life of Coretta Scott King and featured many readings, including works from A. Leon Higgenbotham Jr. and Zora Neale Hurston. King, the wife of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., died Jan. 31.
