Swallow-tailed kite
One of our most graceful and beautiful raptors, this kite visits Florida to breed; it winters as far south as Brazil. Identified by a long, forked tail, striking black and white plumage and buoyant flight, these lovely birds feed on flying insects like dragonflies, and on lizards and snakes snatched from treetops.
