See larger Mike McCoy, a Kentucky native, has lived in Bonita Springs for the past eight years. McCoy joined the Marine Corps when he was 17 and served as a helicopter gunner from 1968 to 1974. He often spends his afternoons at the American Legion in Bonita Springs, where his wife, Leslie, tends bar three days a week. In addition to his wife working there, he likes to hang out at the American Legion because he prefers the company of his fellow veterans, the drinks are cheaper and he is allowed to smoke.
