More than a dozen Collier County teachers gather at Tigertail Beach on Marco Island on Thursday, August 2, 2007, to participate in the school district's Coastal Environment Institute for Teachers - taught by biologists from the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The week-long worshop gives science teachers a chance to investigate a variety of environments within Collier County so that they may enter the upcoming school year with a greater understanding of the natural ecosystems in southwest Florida and be better equipped to boost their students' interest in science and the vast biological spetrum in Collier County.
