Red Cross swimming instructor Kara Powell works on diving skills with swim camp participants Tuesday at the smaller of two pools at Florida Gulf Coast University’s aquatics center. A thunderstorm Monday led to a chlorine spill in the large pool, which sent three people to the hospital and prompted an evacuation. FGCU kept the large pool closed to the general public Tuesday but continued with the camp in the unaffected smaller pool. FGCU hopes to open the large pool to the general public once a professional determines the cause of the spill.
