Traffic increased on Collier Boulevard south of Interstate 75 Thursday morning after I-75 was closed from the Collier Boulevard exit to State Road 29, redirecting traffic to U.S. 41. The large fire that has been burning for more than two days in the Picayune Strand State Forest was the cause of the closure.
