Bonnie Turner, left, hugs Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology counselor Magda Assaad before receiving her diploma during the graduation ceremony in the school’s lobby on Tuesday evening. Turner, 52, who graduated with a licensed practical nursing certificate, has had the goal of entering the medical field since she was 36. Turner was sidetracked by substance abuse and a series of bad decisions. But, with the help of good Samaritans at St. Matthew’s House and her congregation members at New Hope Ministries in East Naples, she finished the nursing program at Lorenzo Walker and looks forward to starting her career.
