Environmental Specialist for Collier County Parks and Recreation Markus Hennig (left) talks with Naples resident Jim Arnold about turtle nesting after Hennig completed marking off a nesting site on Vanderbilt Beach near Delnor Wiggins State Park. Arnold had noticed Hennig on the beach and came down to learn about the nesting season. Hennig said that so far the turtle count on Vanderbilt Beach is up from last year. Hennig also wanted to remind residents who live on and near the beach to be sure to have lights out after 9 pm during the nesting season.
