Virgilio Gonzalez works on a mural that adorns the front of the Everglades Cafe on 10th street in Naples Wednesday afternoon. Gonzalez a Cuban national left his home land in 1999 where he was a painter with the Union of Writers and Artist of Cuba for 37 years. Frank Valdes, owner of the cafe, hired Gonzalez to continue the theme of the building which sports a building sized portrait of a panther on the side of the cafe and grocery store with a Cuban theme. 'Everyone said to me don't paint over the panther so we went with the theme,' Valdes said. 'I like the Everglades but I love my Cuban food.'
