A one-time rental house in old Naples took its first steps toward restoration Thursday, and they were big ones. The home at 392 11th Ave. S. and its small guest house in the rear were raised, via a series of hoists and beams, 7 feet off its foundation. That will allow Design Build of Naples to pour a new foundation underneath to seat the home above flood plain level, as required by FEMA standards. ItÕs a big hoist, said Design Build owner Tim Tassin: Flint and Doyle Structural Movers of Fort Myers weighed the house at 30 tons. Here, project manager Jim Bennett checks plans for the homeÕs interior while structural movers ease beams under the guest house. While the new foundations harden underneath, Tassin, Bennett and workers will begin gutting the house of its old debris. TheyÕre on a firm deadline, says Tassin: 'The family told me their greatest hope is to be in here for Christmas.' The work, and the changes to the home, will be followed in a monthly series beginning July 18 in the Naples Daily News At Home section. Allie Garza/Staff
