A dog is chained to an area in the front yard of a home in Bonita Springs. On May 1, the revised Collier County Animal Control Ordinance will become active. Dogs may no longer be chained and left alone. It is now required that only healthy dogs six months or older be tethered with a number of regulations that pet owners must meet. Lee County is also drafting an ordinance about tethering pets. Lexey Swall/Staff
