The oil spill occurred Wednesday July 14, due to a transformer box that was hit by lightning and was later extinguished by the Naples Fire Department causing oil to wash into the drainage system and in turn into Spring Lake. Eagle SWS a local cleanup team began laying boom and absorbent pad at 10:30 last night, to protect the lake from further contamination. Staff/Manuel Martinez
