Evelin Contreras, of the Dominican Republic, center, and others take the oath of citizenship during a United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Naturalization Ceremony at the Golden Gate Community Center on Saturday morning in Golden Gate. The ceremony was held in conjunction with World Refugee Day which is June 20. Twenty-two people from 16 different countries were sworn in as citizens of the U.S. The 16 countries of origin include Albania, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Latvia, Mexico, Romania, Russia, Turkey and Zimbabwe.
