Lee Memorial Healthcare System directors gave approval for fundraising for a 50-bed expansion of The Children's Hospital with a $200-million tower to accommodate growth for the next 10 years. Architects presented details to the hospital system's board of directors for a 400,000-square-foot expansion in a six-story design which would take the existing 98-bed children's hospital to 148 beds, along with shell space to eventually expand to 172 beds.
