Edward "Ski" Olesky listens to his attorney's opening statement in the medical malpractice trial involving his wife's death in June of 2004. Olesky is accusing, Dr. Dennis Stapleton, his late wife's cardiothoracic surgeon, and Stapleton's physician's assistant, Joseph Deily, of mishandling medical complications that arose following Ann Olesky's heart surgery in 2004, ultimately leading to her death. In a two-hour opening statement, the attorney for the plaintiff told the jury that Dr. Stapleton received notice that his late patient, Ann Olesky, had "coded" and was resuscitated by NCH hospital staff, but said Stapleton decided not to drive to the hospital to check on her and continued to have dinner with a friend at Chops City Grill, a high-end restaurant in downtown Naples.
