Firefighter Bruce Sheffield retrieves a water hose Monday morning after a fire severely damaged a rental vacation home on Gulfshore Drive in Bonita Springs. The Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue District received the residential fire call at 4 a.m. Monday. Firefighters had to drag approximately 1,000 feet of hose to get to the closest fire hydrant on Tarpon Avenue. Debbi Redfield said the buildings' occupants, two adult vacationers, believed the blaze spread from the fireplace, which they had lit to keep warm. They said they thought they had extinguished the fire before going to bed. No one was in injured blaze. Photographed Feb. 14, 2011. Aaron Hale/Staff
