Vegetation begins to blossom on a stretch of land in the Picayune Strand that used to be a canal. The canal was filled, Everglades restoration project, so eventually there would be a sheet flow effect to recreate wetlands. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District are breaking ground on a new pump station to regulate the flow of water into the Picayune Strand.
