The Conservancy of Southwest Florida is objecting to a Barefoot Beach condominium plan to trim mangroves on county land that was set aside as part of a settlement of a lawsuit the Conservancy filed against the developer and the county. At the time of the settlement, the mangroves were tiny, now they've grown and are blocking people's views of Little Hickory Bay. The Conservancy says a 2003 permit the DEP issued for the trimming is illegal and they've challenged it. The permit has never been used until now. Allie Garza/Staff
