Briggs birds: More of Dr. Baum's collection that was moved from the house to the Collier County Museum after his death in 1975. The Historical Society says Dr. Baum was an avid hunter and during his first visit to Naples in 1922 killed an alligator. The specimen attracted so much interest in his office back home that he decided the next year to begin collection of "every different kind of bird, fish, reptile, etc. I could find in Collier County." He eventually collected more than 180 specimens, which was said to be a favorite of children, who were frequent visitors.
