Donna Heiser/Special to the Daily News St. John Neumann Catholic High School students collected more than 2,000 canned-food items this holiday season in response to the desperate need of food for the needy . The students loaded canned goods into trucks and delivered them to the Catholic Charities food pantry. To encourage their participation in the canned-food drive, some faculty and staff members agreed to dye their hair purple and wear a toupee for a week. This morning, two Neumann faculty members made good on their challenges. Students cheered as Mrs. Marrie McLaughlin, Assistant Principal appeared with purple hair and Mr. David Burns, Dean of Students , received a toupee that he will wear all week. Westbound Pine Ridge Road is backed up due to the accident.
