Area sailors are participating in the United States Optimist Dinghy Association Southeast Championship which began on Saturday, about a mile off the shores of Marco Island. From left, are Andrew Douglas, Johnny Magavdino, Matthew Magavdino, Claire Havig, Tori Davis, Matt Keller, Christopher Douglas, Jarrod Farrow, Oliver Mey, Carson Page and Savannah Irvin. A total of 246 competitors, ages 9 to 15, raced on Saturday and will continue on Sunday and Monday. They have the opportunity to qualify for national and international races from this competition.
