The United States Optimist Dinghy Association Southeast Championship began in waves of 82 boats each on Saturday in the Gulf, about a mile off the shores of Marco Island. A total of 246 competitors, ages 9 to 15, raced on Saturday and will continue on Sunday and Monday. They have the opportunity to qualify for national and international races from this competition.
