East Naples firefighters Jason Bledsoe, left, and Andy Sanchez dig up a pipe to find a gas leak during training for emergency response to natural gas leaks on Tuesday at the Fire-Rescue Training Center on Tenth Street N. in Naples. The two East Naples firefighters accompanied the City of Naples Fire Department for the training provided by TECO Peoples Gas. The event gave the firefighters practical, hands-on training to understand the properties and characteristics of natural gas and how to deal with in-field emergencies. A trench was dug and pipe laid in the training area in order to pump actual natural gas through the pipes so firefighters would have to find the leak the same way they would in a real-life situation.
