Corey Perrine/Staff Photo Illustration Immokalee's Mackenro Alexander, 19, is the football defensive player of the year. The senior linebacker has been tackling his way to the top of the record books. In 2012 he posted school records for most interceptions for a touchdown and most career tackles. He's piqued the interest of several schools but is undecided as of yet as well as concentration of study. From Pop Warner league to this month's runner-up 5A state finish, he's got a bright future before the last chapter is written on his football career. "Success has taught me humbleness," Alexander said. "Adversity came from being overshadowed by other teammates. Wanting to do better helped me to get where I am today."
