Tristan Spinski/Staff Osvaldo Gonzales, bottom, hands a palm frond to foreman P.J. "The Man" Santiago, both of Big Cypress Tiki Huts in Deerfield Beach, as they work on re-thatching the roof of a traditional Seminole Chickee hut at the Naples Preserve in Naples on Wednesday afternoon. The crew of four men removed the old roof and were more than a third of the way into re-thatching the new roof by early afternoon. The new roof, made entirely of palm fronds, can last, depending on weather conditions, between six and ten years.
