Rick Piper positions his telescope while his fellow members of the Everglades Astronomical Society along with Naples High School students and others from the community gathered together at Lowdermilk Park to see Venus move in front of the sun on June 5, 2012. The crowd did not get a chance to see the rare happening because of heavy cloud coverage. The next transit of Venus is 2117.
