A gopher tortoise crosses the road search for food and burrow in the sand June 20, 2012 at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples, Fla. The endangered reptiles are low in count from predators and habitat destruction. The slow-moving creatures at the park are used to humans and are friendly because of frequent visits at the nearby beaches. The cold-blooded, herbivore scavanger animal is the Florida state tortoise and Georgia's state reptile.
