Bonness finished second in many races to Kevin Moats, an Atlanta man who competed against him in several Iron Man competitions. Earlier this month, Moats was accused of committed a doping violation. He has received a one-year period of ineligibility for the offense, effective January 30, 2012, and has been provisionally suspended from WTC competition since notice of the adverse finding. As a result, Bonness is now the winner in many contests.
