The equines came by way of donation, of which both suffered career-ending injuries. 'I had a friend sick with breast cancer who asked me to help take care of her horse,' Gilbert said. 'People kept saying, 'You're really good them.' Then it got me thinking maybe it would be nice to have a horse. Then all of a sudden it was, why not start a horse rescue.'
