Corey Perrine/Staff Cynthia Gilbert and Kimberly Cavalier look on as Wiley Woo eats hay out of Cavalier's trunk Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at M&H Stables in Naples, Fla. Gilbert recently started up Horse Rescue of Southern Florida in July. Her first two horses came on a rare donation of retired racing horses, 5 and 7 years-old, that had career-ending injuries. "I had a friend sick with breast cancer who asked me to help take care of her horse," Gilbert said. "People kept saying, 'You're really good them.' Then it got me thinking maybe it would be nice to have a horse. Then all of a sudden it was, why not start a horse rescue."
