In preparation of reading the book, Johnny Appleseed, teacher Allana Cardenas has Caroline Harrison and other students take a bite of an imaginary apple at Discovery Day Academy on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 in Bonita Springs, Fla. The school uses a research-based approach to teaching critical-thinking skills to children, ages 5 and under. A STEM program utilizes hands-on science, technology, engineering and math activities to improve interaction and learning with pupils.
