Current boat slips, all of which are owned by private boaters with the Marco Island Marina Association, run alongside the Chestnut waterway. The yacht club owns just eight boat slips in the marina's basin and wants to establish the new facilities to accommodate more of its members.
  • Rudi Landwaard, vice chair of the Marco Island Yacht Club, extends an arm in the direction of the proposed docks. The longer of the two, a 402-foot structure with space for 19 boats, would jut out from the point where the Chestnut waterway enters the Marco River. The shorter, 333-foot dock would sit beside it, nearer the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge.
  • The Marco Island Yacht Club's tiki hut extends meekly toward the shadow of the Judge S.S. Jolley Bridge. Plans brought before the city planning board on Friday propose to build two large docks into the Marco River where the hut is now.
