  • One of this years hottest gifts, the iPod MP3 player, is available on island at the Radio Shock in the Heritage Square shopping center, 1000 North Collier Boulevard. Store owner Juan Pacheco demonstrates how the newest iPod Nano plays video and the screen view flips horizontally and vertically seemingly within a split second depending on how it's held. It also shuffles and skips to the next song when shaken.

Christmas Island Style will be lighting the community tree 6 p.m. Saturday at its new home in Veterans Community Park at the corner of Joy Circle and Elkcam near the Winn-Dixie Shopping Center.   Residents are encouraged to bring their own beach chairs or blankets to sit out at the park.

Lucia Lacunza, a former migrant worker and volunteer with Bedtime Bundles and Manatee Elementary School, hands turkey out to migrant workers at Manatee Elementary School for the holidays. Carmen Fontdevila, the migrant liaison at the school, is behind them checking boxes of turkeys. Bedtime Bundles, a Marco Island-based nonprofit assisting migrant farm families, in partnership with the Publix on San Marco Road, the Jewish Federation of Collier County and M&I Bank delivered 200 turkeys to families of migrant farm workers.

  • Karlee Nantz, 8 and sister Kaydee Nantz, 11 deliver presents to Marco Presbyterian Church to be given to children in need across the world through Operation Christmas Child, an international holiday outreach of Samaritan's Purse. Island youth have helped filled hundreds of shoe boxes to give to children their age. The church office is accepting shoe boxes filled with school supplies, toys, clothes and other items through Nov. 22.
