A two-seater Cessna 152 crashed in the Gulf of Mexico about a quarter-mile north of the LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort off Vanderbilt Beach around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2008. Pilot Douglas Barnard and his passenger Bruce Joseph were uninjured. The plane was attempting to make an emergency landing at the time of the crash, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Karie Partington.

A two-seater Cessna 152 crashed in the Gulf of Mexico about a quarter-mile north of the LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort off Vanderbilt Beach around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2008.
